Regions and nations

There are many and diverse organisations across the UK involved in a global dimension in the school curriculum. In 2001-02 the DFID provided project funding for consultation and research into preparation of coherent strategies to enable effective support.

Worldaware is participating in the regions of Greater London and South-east England. A consortium of organisations conducted questionnaires, interviews and forums with headteachers, teachers, LEA advisers and officers, national NGOs and community organisations. A report of this stage was prepared and work has continued with strategies and project activities.

The submission to DFID was approved in November 2002. A management group has been working through the first phase and this includes building a learning community through a website and email list called local4global.
