| The annual Worldaware Business
Awards recognise the achievements of companies, large and small,
and of non-profit organisations working in the developing world
who have made substantial contributions to sustainable development
and the increased prosperity of poorer nations. Now in its fourteenth
year, the 2002 Awards scheme is open to companies and organisations
throughout the world, and entry is free. Entry forms are available
on line from 15 April 2002, to be returned by 30 June 2002. Worldaware
is always interested to hear from companies wishing to sponsor
an Award category.
The Worldaware Business Group
is a network of companies, organisations and individuals who have
an interest in a wide range of global development issues. Meetings,
seminars and policy discussions are arranged from time to time in
line with members’ interests, with the aim of widening and deepening
understanding of how the private sector can best contribute to improving
the long-term economic and social prosperity of developing countries.
The Group also seeks to contribute to the educational aims of Worldaware
through contributing learning about the role of business in development
to students and teachers. Joint business-education events are arranged
(see Education). The Group
also shares information, through the Worldaware site, on
development subjects by links to relevant news and information on
members’ sites. Comment and discussion is invited.
