Overseas Development Institute: The ODI has been running a series of meetings focusing on ‘The Agenda for Global Institutional Reform: Next Steps for Developing Countries’. The last meeting in the series will tackle the following theme:

  • Wednesday 7 June, ‘Global institutions and developing countries
    Speakers: David Batt, Director, International Economic Policy,
    DFID; Peter Tulloch, Director, Development Division, WTO; and Ngaire Woods, University College, University of Oxford.

Education for Sustainable Development: The UNED and South Bank University are holding a one day seminar on Friday 16 June. The principal speaker is Rt. Hon Estelle Morris, Secretary of State for Education and Employment, other speakers from the DEA, CEE and UNED Forum will also be present. P7 Summit: The European Parliament’s 4th P7 Summit, held between 7-10 June in Brussels, will concentrate on water security. ‘Water, a right to live in the 21st century’ will discuss ‘water warfare’, the case for water privatisation and other related topics. Women 2000: Gender Equality, Development and Peace for the 21st Century: Taking place between 5-9 June 2000 at the UN New York headquarters the General Assembly’s special session is designed to ‘review and appraise implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action of the 1995 Fourth World Conference on Women’.
