~ GM ‘terminator technology’ is a method of producing crops with ‘sterile seeds’ which forces farmers to buy seeds every year rather than collecting them from their existing crops and could be used to ‘hold Third World farmers to ransom.’ In response to a global outcry, large companies such as Monsanto and AstraZeneca renounced plans to develop the technology but evidence suggest that AstraZeneca is still involved.

~ Coffee and cocoa producers are to be allowed greater control in the running of their industry, the government of the Ivory Coast has announced after complaints from producers that the regulator is responsible for low prices has led to its abolishment.
