The two international financial organisations meet annually to discuss issues relating to ‘poverty reduction, international economic development and finance and to provide a forum for international cooperation’. 11 October 2000 Corruption and Conflict in Angola – Is Transparency a Way Out
Transparency International invite Simon Taylor, the founder director of Global Witness, to lead the discussion at the above meeting open to members and other interested parties. The role which government corruption and international oil and banking industries play in the war with UNITA comes under discussion.

12 – 13 October 2000 Global Tobacco Control Convention
The World Health Organisation is hosting a two day public hearing on the draft of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, an international treaty designed to control tobacco use and advertising.
