DIRECTOR
Worldaware is seeking a successor to its present
Director, who retires in December 1999.
Following government’s commitment, in the DFID
1997 White Paper, to increasing development
awareness in Britain, there is a new climate of
opportunity in which a creative individual, with an
understanding of the ways in which public attitudes
are influenced, can develop the work of the
organization. We are looking for someone who will
combine commitment to Worldaware’s aims with
understanding of the need to co-operate with a wide
range of organizations and institutions, acting as
a catalyst to achieve change.
The successful candidate will have an up-to-date
understanding of the key issues of international
development and the ways in which they relate to
the interests of people in Britain. S/he will feel
confident in making high level contacts in
business, politics and education, and will have
proven skills in communication. The ability to
lead a small professional staff team as well as
working with highly qualified volunteers and
advisers will also be essential.
Closing date for enquiries will be 9th
February and for applications 16th
February.
An information pack for candidates, with details
of how to apply, is available from: Selection
