Unilever’s plantations business and what it
contributes to the countries where it operates are
described in the illustrated booklet ‘Unilever’s
Plantations: Developing agriculture in the
developing world’.
It
discusses the benefits under the headings: helping
to meet food requirements; providing much needed
foreign exchange; making the most of the land;
creating jobs and passing on skills; investing
capital; research and development; and protecting
the ecological balance. It also discusses the
plantation as a social unit.
With schools in mind, it adds profiles on crops
and the countries in which Unilever grows them.
