During the course of each year Worldaware aims
to bring one or two key development issues to the
business community through more in-depth discussion
over a half-day or full-day period. During these
seminars the aim is to bring together leading
speakers on the chosen subject to give the latest
information and to discuss future plans.
In July 1996 a half-day seminar on The fight
against international corruption: how the European
Union can help was arranged jointly with
Transparency International. It was chaired by Lord
Holme of Cheltenham, and the speakers were Dr.
Denis MacShane, MP; Dieter Frisch, former
Director-General of DG VIII; Andre Newburg, EBRD;
and Dr. Mads Andenas, Centre for European Law,
King’s College.
In May 1997 Worldaware hosted jointly with
British Executive Service Overseas (BESO), a
reception at the House of Commons for
representatives of the Eighth World Conference of
Senior Executive Services.
