The Development Journalists’ Group is a group of
press, radio, television and freelance journalists
who are interested in world development issues.
On their behalf Worldaware arranges meetings in
Central London at which they have the opportunity
to hear, question and discuss informally with
people who have something important to say about
any aspect – economic, political, technical or
social – of world development.
There is no fixed calendar of meetings, speakers
are booked as and when available. The meetings
usually take place at 1.00 pm at Worldaware’s
offices.
Past speakers include:
- Chaiwat Thirpan, founder of the Bangkok
Forum
- Tu Nan, Chinese economist and
journalist
- Brian Macarthur, Assistant Editor of The
Times
- Sir David Hannay, former UK representative
at the United Nations
- George Moody-Stuart, Chairman of
Transparency International UK.
The Group has also organised the launch of both
the 1996 UNCTAD Trade and Development Report and
the 1996 UNCTAD World Investment Report.
